The Roland TR-505 rhythm composer is the lowest in the line of TR series drum machines. While untouched, it contains only basic features and sounds, but has extensive MIDI capabilities. The 505 can be easily modified with a variety of added features to make this humble machine a serious sound tool. The 505 can be found easily, and is reasonably priced. The mods on this page are only a start of what is possible with this unit. |
| The unit pictured at right and below has been outfitted with 5 effect switches controlling distortion, phasing, and ring effects. In addition an Atari style joystick port has been added to control an additional 5 synth effects for unique live performance expressions. Also added are 1/4" line audio input, and 5 individual outputs for bass drum, clap/rim, snare, congas, and toms.
